Time to relax..

Image via 16 House

The past couple of weeks have been very busy. Busy at work. Unwell with swollen cartilage in my chest from excessive coughing. Family staying. We also have more visitors arriving so the house has to be cleaned again.

I have missed my blog reading this week. Doing a quick catch up now. I look forward to a few moments of relaxation tomorrow and think I need a chair near our floor to ceiling windows to enjoy the view.

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend xo Ames xo

Soft. Butterfly.

Catching up on my blog reading this morning after a few cups of tea. I have just seen these lovely images by Gloria Marigo via Daydream Lily.  To me, the softness of these photographs captures the true gentle nature of the butterfly.

Have a magical weekend xo

My creative space...

Guardian Pharmacy have been running the Guardian Angel Knitting Program for twelve years. They donate knitted and crocheted garments to a different charity each year. Last year, I crocheted a scarf. I have just started to knit a scarf to donate this year.

This year, the Guardian Angels garments and blankets will be donated to Variety, The Children's Charity. A lovely person from my old work will be collecting the knitted and crocheted goods from a group of us and will be donating them by the end of August.

Have you been making anything for charity lately? I find that it brings a sense of well-being,  knowing that my handy work will bring a smile to someone's face. Someone that I will never meet.

Best wishes to everyone out there that needs help at the moment. Keep your spirits high.

Much Love (Happy) Monday

I am inspired by two blogs today. I admire the sentiment of kit and nancy, which is dedicated to two Grandmothers. Much Love has a cheery love list each Monday, known as Much Love Monday. With sensibility, I thought I would merge ideas from both and make my usual Happy Monday post into a Much Love Monday post.

So today, I love Grandmothers. Of course, this post is dedicated to my two Grandmothers who have passed away in the last few years.

 What are you loving today?

For more Much Love Monday - pop over here. To participate, all you have to do is include a photo of something with a heart in it and tell us what you are loving today.

Have a lovely week everyone.
I hope you find something special to do, that warms your heart. Ames xo

These tattoos are amazing.
One an additive colour mixing system, the other subtractive.
Certainly different - and romantic.

Flea Market Finds

I have been enjoying Sophie's Flea Market Finds posts for awhile now but have not had the time to rummage around at garage sales, op shops and markets. I have always enjoyed this and as a result have collections of cameras, tea sets, tins, books and general bric-a-brac.

We visited a couple of garage sales yesterday and I am pleased with our finds. I found a couple of succulent plants and pebbles which will look great on the balcony once I have re-potted them. Also a couple of things for the kitchen including a pretty plate.

I hope you found the time for a little second hand shopping this weekend. Did you find anything exciting?

Have a lovely Sunday! Ames xo

World Wide Knit in Public Day

Pulled out my knitting needles in honour of 'World Wide Knit in Public Day'. I have also heard this referred to as 'International Knitting Day' or 'International Yarn Bombing Day'.

For more information, pop over here. Have you done any knitting today?

Follow up: squares for Papillon Gold

You may recall my previous posts about squares that a group of us from the Plain Tiger Butterflies craft group made and sent off to contribute to a blanket for Knit4Charities. Well, Jane from Papillon Gold has finished the blanket and has forwarded it to Busy Hands Warm Hearts. It looks amazing! Pop over to Papillon Gold to check out the other wonderful blankets Jane has made for charity. What a generous soul for making for others.

    South Australian Culture

We went to Adelaide last year to visit family and had an enjoyable time visiting the gallery, museum and library. There were some moving exhibits and we loved the heritage buildings. Wouldn't mind visiting them again.

52 Weeks, 52 Lists: favourite cupcakes

I am a day late. However I have signed up for 52 Weeks, 52 Lists which I found out about this evening via The Crafty Librarian. Kellie from on the brink... of something beautiful has started a group project from an idea that she had to collate and share lists over the year. Visit her blog for the inspiration and details if you would like to join in.

I will endeavour to post a list every Sunday for the next 52 Weeks. This week it is all about cupcakes. I did some baking last week and when I bake I tend to make cupcakes (otherwise known as patty cakes to those of us that love old fashioned things).

My favourite flavours of cupcakes are:
    1. Green tea
    2. Chocolate
    3. Red velvet
    4. Pistachio and vanilla
    5. White chocolate
    6. Sugar and spice
    7. Sticky gingerbread
    8. Black forest
    9. Carrot and walnut
    10. Lamington
Now I just have to find the time and occasions to make them all!
    Ames :)

    Typewriters

    via Tea for Joy

Thinking about authors who used to compose their text on typewriters rather than the contemporary computer. A day when there was more pressure to get it right the first time. I wonder how much the change in technology has altered the overall style of writing these days? Not to mention a time when everything was written by hand....

We are hoping to start arranging the downstairs area of our new house this weekend. This includes the studio which will hopefully be an inspiring place for creativity and time out.

    My creative space

I must admit, I have not been very crafty this week. Too many other things happening. However, I did bake some patty cakes earlier in the week for a new friend who is having her first baby. The pending arrival of a little girl called for girly pinks and purples and the vanilla/chocolate yummies went down a treat :)
