Happy Monday

via Maxabella loves

Wouldn't mind finding a spot like this, to lean back and relax. Maybe on the weekend.
Till then, happy Monday and have a magical week xo Ames

Let's make making pom poms the new planking...

There was a bit of a pom pom craft frenzy at our house last night. A great way to use those scraps of yarn that we all have. And the repetitive motion of yarn wrapping is somewhat relaxing.  A few of these will be given to Team Textiles for Knit Lab.

We have also packaged some up for Pip at Meet Me at Mike's. These will be in the post to Melbourne tomorrow and we cannot wait to see the outcome of The Pom Pom Project!

A week of baking...

A number of occasions this week have called for baking. I made chocolate butterfly and beetle cakes with chocolate icing earlier in the week for a birthday. Apparently they looked like wombats.

Mid week baking resulted in mini vanilla patty cakes with decorated pink frosting to celebrate the birth of a gorgeous baby girl. Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of these. I must say, they were pretty cute.

Today, triple chocolate muffins to share amongst some crafty fun with the Brown Owls.

Add some tea and cake. What do you have?

A guardian scarf...

I have been feeling a little off this week. My second cold since being in Tassie, in as many months. But a dreadful cough did not stop me from enjoying my morning today. With two cats on my lap and a cup of chai, I watched the clouds roll in over the city. I also finished one of my current projects - a knitted scarf for Guardian Angels. It is bundled up and ready to post to my colleagues from my previous workplace in Melbourne. A lovely like minded group of crafters who like to make for others.

Happy Mid Week

I haven't done a Happy Monday post for a little while...

I have a few links to share so on a similar theme to Happy Monday, I hope you are all having a Happy Mid Week. Enjoy :)

  2. Jennifer from Playing with Fire has an amazing portrait giveaway which ends this week. I particularly love her Twin Peaks portraits which are featured on the blog post. Why not enter and see if you can have your portrait stitched?
  3. Sarah London's book will be released soon, entitled Granny Square Love. Looking forward to it.

First Brown Owls

My childhood fun stitch

I attended my first Brown Owls group this evening for a bit of craftiness. The venue changed but that did not change what is obviously a lovely monthly get together. The group is making a quilt which will be raffled at the end of the year to raise money for Kiva. I have been meaning to try quilting for years now so this looks like the perfect opportunity. Looking forward to our next Owly meeting in a couple of weeks time.

Happy crafting! Ames :)

Flea Market Finds

I walked away with these two tins after stopping by a garage sale earlier today. The blue spirograph tin spoke to me - calling to be used for some crafty supplies. I love the patterns.

I thought the commemorate tin of the Royal wedding between Prince Charles and Lady Di from 1981 was timely since Quality Street have just released a commemorate tin for the wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton. This tin will join a collection in the kitchen.

Have a lovely week everyone :)

Knit Lab

We went to the opening of Knit Lab last night, an interactive exhibition at Sawtooth ARI. A creation by Team Textiles - three talented textile artists.

The exhibition runs from 8th to 30th July and will evolve over the duration as visitors are encouraged to participate by contributing to the knitty artworks. I am planning on knitting a square or two.

Winter crochet tutorials

Two and a bit months have passed since I moved to Tasmania. Chilly is an understatement and I am surprised to have noticed an uncomfortable variation from the weather of Melbourne where I have spent the last eight years.

I am usually making some sort of craft year round but I think it is time to ramp up the knitting and crochet. Another lap blanket for the lounge in addition to this one which I made a little while back would be nice.

There are so many talented craftisans out there and I thought I would share some of the tutorials I have enjoyed reading, which would keep me warm head to toe.

52 Weeks, 52 Lists: books

Happy. The topic for this week's list is books! A wish list of books or those that you already own.

As my wish list would go on and on and on, I have chosen a list of books that are at home. Waiting to be finished or started, waiting to be read.

Check out on the brink of something beautiful for more lists.
