Making stuff out of stuff: tape measure brooches

I was sitting on the train, gazing out the window and imagining what could be. Then I looked around the carriage for some people watching. My attention was quickly focused on a girl. She was wearing a tape measure brooch. This moment inspired me.... So I have made some of my own.

Why don't you try it for yourself! All you need is a tape measure, scissors, a hot glue gun, brooch clasps and optional extras such as buttons.

  1. Cut and arrange your pieces of tape measure, depending on your desired design.
  2. Adhere your pieces together, using the hot glue gun.
  3. When assembled, adhere a brooch clasp to the reverse. Alternatively, you could always make your design into a hair clip or necklace. Think outside the square.
HAPPY CRAFTING!

  1. A message to the maker of the original brooch that I saw worn, as my inspiration: I am not selling these and hope you don't mind me building on your design :)
