52 Weeks 52 Lists: HALLOWEEN

Getting excited about celebrating Halloween this year. This seasonal holiday is not widely celebrated in Australia but I think it is a great excuse to have a party! So afternoon tea it is. Hopefully in the garden if the weather holds up.

To do:

1. Decide - butterfly mask or full costume
2. Grocery shopping
3. Make Halloween gingerbread house with my cousin
4. Cook and prepare goodies including mud cupcakes, vegan muffins and mixed sandwiches
5. Decorate the house

Happy Easter!

Did you make cards for Easter? We did. Just a few to send to family to let them know that we are thinking of them - even though we have been busy with a move interstate. Most of the craft goodies were packed ages ago so it is pretty simple this year.

We used coloured pens to decorate butterfly cut outs. All of them are different, depending on the mood. Probably not very Easter-y but everyone is not surprised when they receive something butterfly related.

New Horizons

The coming of a new year affords many of us the opportunity to reflect on times past and to dream of what is yet to come. In our minds, the chance to pause is as important as the healing of old hurts and the seeking out of another horizon. A moment of stillness between the old and the new to stretch into ourselves as fully as our breaths pull in the present.

It's Christmas time in the City..

Merry Christmas to all of our lovely friends and bloggers. We passed through Melbourne city today after spending a nice Christmas morning with someone special. 

We wanted to have a look at the Myer Christmas windows, which have been a Melbourne Christmas institution for 55 years. Being Christmas Day, we thought there would be less people around and that we would actually be able to see the window displays without queuing for hours. However, we were surprised to see that the windows were popular and there were three gelato / ice-cream / hot dog trucks parked in the mall offering a not-so Christmassy treat??

 

We then headed towards the city decorations near Collins Street.

It definitely feels like Christmas time in the City..

Making Christmas cards

Well I finally got around to making our Christmas cards. I decided to go for a simple theme this year. It will be no surprise to my family and friends - it involves butterflies. I have used die cut cards and some scrap-booking paper for the infills. I then used black ink to stamp a message on the inside of the cards and pink ink to stamp a matching star or butterfly on the envelope. I also made some little gift tags using the butterfly stamp and a Season's Greetings stamp. Very easy, it has only taken me a couple of hours to make them and I am happy with the result. I have a range of pink ribbons to use on the gifts and I am looking forward to the wrapping. How is your Christmas shopping and wrapping going? Have you made your cards this year?
